Food pantry wish list
Annual Postal Workers' Food Drive is May 14. These are some helpful
suggestions for the donor. At present, the Food Pantry does not need the
following: Canned corn and green beans and various sauces such as barbecue
etc.
The current needs are paper towels, facial and toilet tissue, dry boxed
foods, such as macaroni and cheese, the Helpers for chicken and tuna,
seasoned rice and potato side dishes, cereals, crackers, cookies and microwave
popcorn. Canned goods like the ready-to-eat pastas, beans, soups, fruits,
other vegetables, and condiments including ketchup, mustard, mayo and
salad dressings also move off the shelf quickly.
In the personal items category, there is a need for shampoo, tooth paste,
deodorants (both genders), baby diapers (except sizes newborn and size
3). Household items needed include liquid detergents, both laundry and
dish, various cleaners for kitchen and bath. A special thank you to all
who contribute, especially if you use this list as a guide. It helps us
immensely.
Food drivers help so much to keep us in the position of being able to
meet the financial emergency needs of families. It means less money goes
for food and more is then available for use in financial aid; which always
totals more than food expense per month.
Our persuasion has always been to the client, "Come for food; save
your money to pay those monthly bills."

Harbor Country Invites Public to Hear Expert’s Tips on Marketing
to Women
www.marketingtowomenonline.com/inthenews.htm
New Buffalo, MI (April 6, 2004) – The Harbor Country Lodging Association
invites the public to a presentation titled “Smart Marketing to
Women On- and Off-Line” by marketing expert and author Yvonne DiVita
on Wednesday, May 12, in the Prairie Room at the Harbor Grand Hotel, 111
Water St., New Buffalo. The presentation will follow a dinner that will
begin at 7 p.m EDT.
According to DiVita, women are the undisputed shoppers of the world and
more women than men are online today. Studies show that women buy more
than 50 percent of the traditional male products such as automobiles,
electronics and PCs, and they influence more than 90 percent of goods
and services bought in this country.
“We thought this presentation would be of interest to business owners
beyond just the Lodging Association members. We can all use some practical,
strategic marketing advice,” said A. J. Boggio, president of the
Lodging Association.
DiVita advises online businesses to “Leave the Dick and Jane world
of the previous century back in the school room where it belongs. Jane
is your target market. She’s online, shopping for business and pleasure,
24/7.” DiVita’s insight is the result of years of business
experience and intense research.
DiVita is the president and founder of Windsor Media Enterprises, a Rochester,
NY, company specializing in web content, writing and publication of e-books,
e-docs and print-on-demand books. In addition to her book, she also writes
marketing articles for several on- and off-line outlets.
For further details, contact the Harbor Country Chamber and Lodging Association
at 800-362-7251.
In January 2004, Yvonne’s book on marketing to women online, “Dickless
Marketing: Smart Marketing to Women Online” was published by print
on demand company, 1st Books.com.
The book urges businesses to break out of the old Dick and Jane mindset
of the 20th century and join the new millennium where Jane is the gender
with the power, the money, and the inclination to shop online.
In fact, Jane not only shops for herself, her family, and her business,
she often shops for Dick, also. The book is available through the publisher
and in bookstores nationwide. Read it to learn how to make your Web site
“female-friendly.”
